Description

As a Quality Assurance Technician (QA Tech) on the beef plant kill floor, you play a critical role in ensuring that all aspects of meat processing adhere to regulatory standards, food safety protocols, and company quality specifications. This position requires attention to detail, knowledge of food safety practices, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough inspections of beef carcasses, offal, and processing equipment to ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and quality standards.
  • Monitor the production process to identify any deviations from quality standards, such as contamination, defects, or improper handling of meat products.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, production data, and any corrective actions taken. Ensure all documentation meets regulatory requirements.
  • Collect samples of meat products for testing purposes, including microbial analysis, temperature checks, and product quality evaluations.
  • Ensure all operations on the kill floor adhere to USDA or other regulatory guidelines regarding food safety, sanitation, and animal welfare.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors, quality control managers, and other team members to communicate findings, issues, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide guidance and training to production line staff on proper handling procedures, sanitation practices, and quality control measures.
  • Identify and address any quality or safety issues promptly, implementing corrective actions as necessary to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Maintain personal hygiene standards and comply with all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or certification in food safety, quality assurance, or meat processing is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a meat processing facility, quality control, or food safety role is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to detect abnormalities in product quality.
  • Good communication skills to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control processes.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and withstand cold temperatures.
  • Problem-solving skills to address issues promptly and effectively.
