Description

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) at Jamestown Family Health Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting daily clinic operations. Under the supervision of a healthcare provider, the MOA performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks, ensuring efficient patient care and compliance with safety regulations.

Essential Functions

  • Patient Care:
    • Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes
    • Prepare patients for examinations
    • Take and record vital signs
    • Perform CLIA-waived tests, such as rapid strep tests and urine dipsticks
    • Administer immunizations
    • Collect specimens as directed by providers
    • Document patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Manage and maintain patient records
    • Schedule appointments and referrals
    • Answer phones and direct calls
    • Handle incoming and outgoing mail
    • Order and maintain medical supplies
    • Assist with billing and insurance verification
    • Assist with clinic event planning and preparation
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
    • Properly dispose of biohazardous waste
    • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
    • Comply with HIPAA regulations and other relevant privacy laws
  • Professional Conduct:
    • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance
    • Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and providers
    • Demonstrate a positive and collaborative attitude
    • Be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid CPR certification
  • Current Washington State Medical Assistant registration
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including EMR systems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in healthcare or related field
  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • American Indian/Alaskan Native preferences apply
