Electrical Designer

Westfalia Technologies is a leading provider of innovative solutions for warehouses, distribution centers, and manufacturing facilities. We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical Designer to join our dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating electrical designs and drawings for our automation and material handling systems. As an Electrical Designer, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of electrical components into our projects. 

  

Job Functions:  

  • Develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, and layouts for automated material handling systems, including conveyor systems, robotics, and control panels 

  • Collaborate with mechanical and controls engineering teams to ensure the integration of electrical components aligns with the overall system design. 

  • Select appropriate electrical components and specify materials to meet project requirements. 

  • Create and revise electrical drawings using EPLAN 

  • Revise system layout drawings using AutoCAD 

  • Ensure designs adhere to relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations. 

  • Assist in the development of Bill of Materials (BOM) for electrical components. 

  • Participate in design reviews to ensure accuracy and functionality of electrical designs. 

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and field installation teams during the build and installation phases. 

  • Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely completion of design milestones and project deadlines. 

  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in electrical design technologies.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Proven experience (2+ years) in electrical design for industrial automation systems, material handling, or related fields. 

  • Proficiency in EPLAN, AutoCAD, or similar electrical design software. 

  • Strong understanding of electrical components, control systems, and wiring diagrams. 

  • Knowledge of NEC (NFPA70), NFPA79, UL508A, and other relevant electrical codes and standards. 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities. 

  • Familiarity with PLC programming and HMI design is a plus. 

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering 

 

Location:

  • Hybrid/remote schedule available after training period.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires both physical labor and office work 
  • Must be able to communicate in a clear, concise, and active manner. 
  • Must possess visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens 
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time 
  • Ability to position oneself by stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling in and around machinery during system commissioning or shop testing 
  • Must be fit for air travel and legally able to rent and drive a rental vehicle
