Mechanical Installation Supervisor

The Mechanical Installation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the physical installation of Westfalia conveyor equipment.  This position works closely with Project and Site Managers to ensure the equipment is installed safely, on-time, in-budget, and in-spec.

 

Job Functions:

  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests at equipment supplier factories, including inspection of equipment, accessories, spares, and testing.
  • Prepare jobsite for receipt and installation of equipment.
  • Ensure all quality and safety information is provided and communicated to Westfalia contractors responsible for completing the installation.
  • Direct and assist equipment floor layout for accurate positioning of equipment.
  • Assess priorities and direct the local workforce each day on tasks.
  • Perform daily safety audits.  If there is a non-conformance, near miss, or injury, report it to the Site Manager in a timely manner for proper follow-up.
  • Perform daily quality checks to ensure the installation is in-spec.  If non-conformances are found, take measures to meet specifications.
  • Assess progress daily and make, and/or communicate with the Site Manager, the necessary changes to keep the installation on-time and in-budget.
  • Communicate installation progress to the Site Manager daily.  This includes identifying the number of people onsite and tasks that were worked on/completed.
  • Ensure Quality Work Instructions are being followed and Check Sheets filled out.  Provide the documentation to the Site Manager upon completion.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics with Project and Site Management to maintain schedules and ensure on-site resources for receipt, uncrating, damage inspection, assembly, erecting, installation, and setup of Westfalia equipment (custom tools and jigs, welder, etc.).
  • Lead field revisions and mark-ups to the drawings.
  • Assist in organizing and cleaning the jobsite each day and when the work is complete.  Crate leftover material and tools for shipment to the next destination.
  • Work with the Site Manager to track and approve contractor manhours and rental equipment costs.  Timesheets and receipts should be submitted by the contractors for approval each week.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:                                 

  • Strong work ethic and leadership qualities.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks at a time efficiently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently in English, using drawings, written description, and other appropriate means with customers, vendors, contractor, and all in-house resources.
  • Results oriented, factual, and cooperative.
  • Calm and measured demeanor, de-escalating and able to draw discussions back to the subject level.  Respectful and courteous in all situations.
  • Knowledge of metal fabrication, welding, and assembly procedures.
  • Ability to read blueprints, electrical schematics, construction drawings, etc.
  • Knowledge of appropriate industry standards (ANSI, OSHA, ICE, CE, etc.).
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, multimeters and/or oscilloscopes, distance measurement tools.

 

Education/Experience:

  • 5+ years of mechanical assembly and/or installation experience.
  • Hands-on experience with maintenance, machining, and fabrication.

 

Desired/Required:

  • 75+% travel (Travel typically encompasses 10-21 days away at a time)
  • A fair degree of creativity and latitude are expected in solving issues.
  • Cost conscious
  • Safety conscious and OSHA 30 certification
  • Working knowledge of the German and/or Spanish language
