Description

Summary 

The Human Resource Manager is responsible for a broad range of Human Resources functions, including risk management and safety, audit and compliance, employee relations, leave of absence, and workers’ compensation, to support departmental and organizational goals. This role will lead HR projects and/or processes that optimize HR efficiencies; provide supervision to HR representatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

 

  • Supports HR representatives, management, executives, and employees when sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to manage routine tasks such as participating in interactive processes for reasonable accommodations, employee investigations, and terminations
  • Maintains complete personnel files and required employment documentation for audit purposes; ensures files follow recommended record-keeping requirements
  • Assures compliance of benefit plans to include section 125 health plans and retirement plans; oversees preparation of reports, notices, and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies; reviews and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and reports necessary or suggested changes to HR Director; oversees
  • Leads the planning and implementation of any HR projects assigned by the VP of HR
  • Maintain HRIS system and assist with department initiatives that may require system configuration
  • Maintains and reports on workplace health and safety compliance; attends and leads safety committee meetings
  • Develops new programs, initiatives, and incentives to improve workplace safety.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
  • Provides supervision to HR representatives’ day-to-day tasks
  • Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources field highly preferred
  • PHR or SHRM-CP, highly preferred
  • 1-2 years’ supervisory experience preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of computer programs and Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience working with an HRIS system
  • Prior experience leading HR projects
  • Excellent verbal and written skills 
  • Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing

Physical Requirments 

In the course of performing this on-site job, the incumbent must be able to lift at least 25 lbs. Frequent sitting, twisting, typing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Occasional walking, standing, bending, grasping, pulling, pushing and reaching
