POSITION SUMMARY
The Billing Supervisor is responsible for supervising all billing staff and assigning work to individuals to ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly invoicing. The Supervisor must also verify and track new and reissued business to ensure proper billing procedures are followed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Supervise and manage the billing team, assigning tasks and ensuring that work is completed accurately and on time.
- Verify and track new and reissued business to ensure proper billing procedures are followed.
- Develop and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the billing process and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee the monthly invoicing process and monitor invoice processing times to identify trends or areas for improvement.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the billing team, independently problem solve billing issues, and provide training and support as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, customer service, and IT, to resolve billing issues and improve overall process.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the billing process.
- Manage and track internal and external customer complaints and inquiries related to billing and work to resolve them in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices in group premium billing and recommend changes to processes and procedures as needed.
- Advance departmental goals by assisting with special projects and other duties as assigned by management.
- Lead, coach, motivate and develop. Responsible for one-on-one meetings, performance appraisals, growth opportunities and attracting new talent.
- Clearly communicate expectations, provide employees with the training, resources, and information needed to succeed.
- Actively engage, coach, counsel and provide timely, and constructive performance feedback.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
- High school diploma, or some college preferred with two years of experience as a billing coordinator in group premium billing systems
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- At least 3 years' experience as a lead billing coordinator or similar role required
- A thorough understanding of billing procedures and systems is also required.
- Demonstrated leadership potential

- Excellent communication and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong knowledge of Qiclink billing screens
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks and projects
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
