Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree and relevant teaching experience; teaching endorsement in Special Education Required
  • Proficient in IReady and Infinite Campus preffered
  • Must have at least five (5) years of valid driving experience and possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License, or be willing to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure while working with individuals displaying a range of emotions and behaviors.
  • Must be willing and able to drive regularly as part of job responsibilities.
  • Must be willing to participate in ALL community activities with students, including but not limited to skiing, swimming, horseback riding, and other off-site activities. 

Job Summary:

A Special Education Teacher is responsible for overseeing case management and educational planning for a designated caseload of youth with a disability. They include making appropriate accommodation and modification to the set curriculum for each student as needed.

Benefits begin at first of the following month after completing a full 30 days of employment (i.e. start date 4 January 2025, benefits initiate 1 March 2025).

Pay Range: $55,000 – $65,000 Annually based off experience with youth and education.

Shift: 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Uphold the mission, values, policies, and procedures of RiseUp.
  • Oversee case management for all students ensuring timely reports
  • Complete all aspects of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and accommodate and modify curriculum to best support the students.
  • Complete pre and post testing in I Ready.
  • Identify program and individual staff needs and develop a plan for addressing these needs.
  • Ensure accountability of all program money.
  • Coordinate and maintain frequent and professional communication with supervisors, school districts, family members, guardians, home programs, therapists, staff members, and other professionals.
  • Complete appropriate documentation including data collection, monthlies, incident reports/GERs, and IEP goals.
  • Collaborate with appropriate staff to enhance services delivery.
  • Handle emergency situations effectively while following established procedures.
  • Provide direction, support, and role modeling to staff supervised and provide feedback to the Charge Paraprofessional on development opportunities.
  • Develop and execute plan for Community Based Curriculum Activities (CBCAs).
  • Prepare and execute lesson plans and submit to supervisor weekly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at time of hire.
  • Bachelor's Degree and relevant teaching experience; teaching endorsement in Special Education Required
  • Proficient in IReady and Infinite Campus preferred
  • Competent in all aspects of classroom management and instructional delivery.
  • Flexible with schedule and staffing changes.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English language for required paperwork, testing, and professional       communication.
  • Satisfactory Central Registry and CBI record check.
  • Ability to do simple math calculations and analyze data.
  • Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
  • Requires flexible schedule.
  • Ability to work as a team leader. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with respect and tact. Able to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate plans, and prepare materials.
  • Ability to organize and time manage all required tasks.

Qualifications

BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds  
  • Must be able to lift and carry students with adaptive equipment.  
  • Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.  
  • Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.  
  • Must be willing and able to restrain/hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan in the course of working with students with challenging behavior.  
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.  
  • Must have 5 years of Valid Driving experience and a valid Colorado Driver’s License or be willing to obtain Valid Colorado Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements.  
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
