SUMMARY 
 

Under the supervision of the Vehicle Maintenance Manager, perform complex vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair work; troubleshoots and diagnoses needed vehicle and equipment repairs; performs complex mechanical repair to automotive, diesel, public safety, and other power-driven equipment.

 Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  1. Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical defects in automobiles, trucks, snow removal equipment, Snowcats, snowmobiles, and similar mechanical equipment.; reviews repairs and servicing work upon completion.
  2. Fabricates and assembles parts and equipment for resort vehicles and heavy equipment.
  3. Uses welding equipment, drill presses, grinders, and a large assortment of other power and hand tools and measurement instruments required for journey level fabrication work.
  4. Overhauls, repairs, and adjusts engines, transmissions, differentials, clutches, and heavy construction equipment hydraulic systems.
  5. Tunes up engines, replaces electrical and electronic parts, cleans and adjusting carburetors.
  6. Replaces or repairs faulty parts including wheel bearings, clutches, or oil seals, shock absorbers, exhaust systems, steering mechanisms, and related parts and equipment.
  7. Performs generator maintenance for resort generators and related equipment.
     
  8. Prepares and replaces such components as generators, distributors, relays, lights, and switches.
  9. Assists in the purchasing of equipment, maintenance parts and materials.
  10. Lubricates, services, and maintains road equipment and over-snow vehicles per appropriate schedules.
  11. Maintains work, time, and material records using computerized preventive maintenance software system for work orders and asset management.
  12. Responds to emergency calls for assistance when available, and accepts standby duty as needed.
  13. Adheres to and enforces stated safety policies and procedures.
  14. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
  15. Must become familiar with resort’s policies and guest service expectations.
  16. Communicates problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine matters and emergencies.
  17. Continually remains vigilant to the needs of both the equipment and the guests and reacts to those needs in the safest manner while maintaining quality service.
  18. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  19. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
  20. Flexible working hours.


RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.
6. Drive in accordance with the law and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort policies.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.). One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
