We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Clinical Informatics Nurse (RN) to strengthen the connection between clinical practice and our electronic health systems, ensuring that technology truly supports the hands and minds caring for our patients.
Position Overview
The Clinical Informatics Nurse (RN) serves as a critical liaison between clinical operations and healthcare technology. This role uses nursing expertise to optimize Meditech Expanse and other clinical systems, improve workflows, enhance usability, and support staff through training and issue resolution. The RN in this role helps drive quality outcomes, clinical efficiency, and system adoption across the hospital. This position reports to the Information Systems Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert for Meditech Expanse and its clinical applications.
- Partner with IT and clinical departments to configure, optimize, and troubleshoot EHR functionality.
- Participate in planning, testing, and evaluating new features, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Assess clinical workflows and recommend improvements to support safe and efficient patient care.
- Create and deliver training materials, education sessions, and competency support for clinical staff.
- Provide real-time assistance for end-users, addressing issues and promoting effective system use.
- Support go-live and post-go-live activities for EHR implementations or updates.
- Extract, analyze, and interpret clinical data to support quality improvement and operational goals.
- Partner with clinical leadership to build dashboards, metrics, and reporting tools aligned with organizational priorities.
- Work closely with nursing, physicians, IT, and leadership to align technology with clinical needs.
- Lead or participate in committees and workgroups focused on EHR optimization and informatics initiatives.
- Communicate system changes, best practices, and enhancements to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience. 1–2 years of experience in clinical informatics or EHR system management; Meditech Expanse experience highly preferred.
- License: Active Texas RN license required.
- Skills:Â Strong knowledge of Meditech Expanse modules (documentation, CPOE, reporting). Analytical ability to assess workflows and evaluate system impact. Skilled in training, mentoring, and supporting end-users. Excellent communication, organization, and project-management skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Familiarity with Joint Commission, CMS, and healthcare quality standards.
