Drilling Manager

  

Summary/Objective  

This position involves working with the drilling personnel, project managers, and environmental scientists to schedule jobs and crews to execute each drilling site. This position will also include field inspections, ordering materials, and managing the drilling personnel.
 

  

It is anticipated that this role will consist of a mix of field and office-based work and will require knowledge of environmental remediation, engineering, and geology. 

  

This role will require strict adherence to deadlines, therefore strong time management and communication skills are needed.

  

This role would primarily be based in Colorado with little to no travel. 

  

Essential Functions

  1. Mange day-to-day activities, planning, safety, and execution of drilling projects in the field of Geotechnical and Environmental drilling.
  2. Manage scheduling of field staff
  3. Job preparation
  4. Support to job site- including running supplies/repair parts to the field.
  5. Field audits and assessments.
  6. Order drill rig parts, complete maintenance on drill rigs.
  7. Order all drilling materials.
  8. Implement and enforce Tasman’s company policies, site specific safety programs, and always promote a safety culture on the jobsites.
  9. Must be able to clearly and effectively communicate by verbal, written, or electronic means.
  10. Other responsibilities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility 

This position is responsible for overseeing the Colorado drilling team, managing all drilling jobs, and coordinating each job with personnel.  

  

Work Environment 

This job operates in both an outside, field environment and in an office, clerical setting. While working in a clerical, office setting, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. While working in a field environment, the employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including rain, snow, and rain. Temperatures may be cool, cold, warm, or hot. This role routinely uses PPE and other safety equipment and will come in contact with contained contaminated samples for study. 

  

Physical Demands 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  This position requires the ability to occasionally lift field sample products and supplies, up to 50 pounds and to bend and stand as necessary.  Employees are required to stand on their feet for 2 to 3 hours at a time, several times a day and must be able to walk short distances. 

  

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work 
This is a full-time position and standard hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Exact start and end time to workdays is dependent on specific job requirements.  

  

Travel 

Up to 25% travel. Jobs sites, on average, are 1 hour away from company headquarters but may be as much as 2 hours. 

  

Required Education and Experience 

  1. 5+ years in environmental or geotechnical drilling. 
  2. Strong technical writing skills. 
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. 
  4. Strong time management skills. 
  5. Must possess strong communication ability with peers, management, and clients. 
  6. Experience working with State Regulations and related entities. 
  7. Must be a quick starter. 

  

Preferred Education & Experience 

  1. Bachelor's Degree in related field. 
  2. OSHA 10- Hour Certificate.
  3. Hazwoper 40- hour certificate.
  4. 2+ years of drilling management  
  5. CDL A
  6. Experience in oil and gas is desired, but not required. 
  7. Knowledge of Environmental remediation. 
  8. Experience with soil boring classification. 
  9. Knowledge of safe ground disturbance practices.

Employee must be authorized to work in the United States and must possess a valid driver’s license.
