Description

We are currently seeking a compassionate and dynamic full-time Life Skills Instructor to join our Life Choices program in Wakefield, MA. As a Skills Instructor for our Autism group you will work directly with a group of four to five young women with Autism within the day program providing day to day learning and enlightenment. You will also be providing guidance, supervision and leadership to staff.

 

SHIFTS
40 hours per week, Program hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaching and working directly with 4-5 young women with autism in a 5-2 staff ratio using a consistent and patient teaching approach.
  • Providing personal care and assistance to individuals consistent with both their physical needs and defined support plans. Showcasing the ability to adapt and make adjustments to techniques based on functional abilities and limitations. This includes complete familiarity with the profiles and histories of individuals supported and active signs that care and assistance follows their prescribed needs.
  • Participating in the development and direct implementation of the Individual Support Plan, shaping annual assessments and goals and attending team meetings.
  • Assessing individual's training needs, cultivating descriptive teaching programs and monitoring effectiveness through data collection.
  • Developing and implementing community-based activities that promote independence, community inclusion, dignity, and respect while enhancing personal skill development.

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with one year of experience working with individuals with Autism and/or high school diploma or equivalent with two years’ experience with individuals with Autism.
  • Ability to implement and follow a structured schedule of activities.
  • Knowledge or experience of ABA behavioral approached an advantage.
  • Adequate skills and ability to use computer for documentation, email communication and on-line training.
  • Must be a good communicator with the willingness and ability to learn some American Sign Language.
  • Must have a positive attitude and have the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Valid MA Driver’s license
  • Must have an acceptable CORI and clear fingerprint results.
