Facility Contract Services is currently seeking dynamic and goal-driven employees for the City of Pembroke Pines Police Department. Position Summary:

The City of Pembroke Pines is seeking an experienced IoT Technician to join the Municipal Security Unit (MSU) within the Technology Services Department. This position is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting the City’s growing network of security technologies, including IP-based surveillance cameras, access control systems, and key control platforms. The IoT Technician works closely with the Lead IoT Technician and Municipal Security Manager to ensure system integrity, uptime, and future-readiness while also providing physical security support when needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to cloud-based and network video surveillance systems, including cameras, servers, software, and network equipment.
  • Configure new surveillance cameras and access control devices prior to installation, including firmware updates, IP assignment, and integration with video management systems (VMS).
  • Provide support for access control systems and components, including card readers, controllers, and electrified hardware installed throughout City buildings.
  • Maintain and manage the City's key control software and support the citywide key control program.
  • Assist with technical research on new or emerging technologies that can enhance the City’s security posture or operational efficiency.
  • Support physical security operations as needed, working with MSU personnel to evaluate and respond to on-site security concerns.
  • Document technical configurations, installations, troubleshooting steps, and system performance.
  • Collaborate with IT personnel, integrators, and department stakeholders to ensure reliable system operation and secure implementation of technology projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with IP surveillance systems, access control technology, and security hardware.
  • Understanding of basic networking principles, including static IP assignment, switches, and PoE.
  • Familiarity with key control platforms and physical security procedures preferred.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Comfortable working independently or collaboratively in field and office settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Must be able to lift and transport equipment as required for the role.
  • CompTIA Certifications: A+,  Network +

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical support role related to IoT, physical security systems, or networked devices.
  • Experience with video management systems.
  • Experience with access control systems.
  • Experience with cloud-based device management platforms and remote diagnostics.
  • Relevant technical certifications are a plus but not required.
