Description

The Caregiver/Certified Caregiver is responsible for providing compassionate and comprehensive care to individuals who require assistance with daily activities due to age, illness, or disability. This role involves supporting clients in maintaining their independence, promoting their well-being, and ensuring their safety. The Caregiver/Certified Caregiver will perform various tasks, including personal care, medication administration, and household management, while maintaining a respectful and nurturing environment.

 

Responsibilities:

1. Personal Care Assistance:

   - Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.

   - Provide mobility assistance, including transferring, positioning, and ambulation support.

   - Help with eating, meal preparation, and feeding as required.

   - Monitor and record vital signs, medication intake, and any changes in client health status.

   - Assist with range-of-motion exercises and other prescribed therapies.

 

2. Companionship and Emotional Support:

   - Foster a supportive and caring environment for clients, promoting their emotional well-being.

   - Engage in meaningful conversations and activities to enhance social interaction and mental stimulation.

   - Provide companionship, active listening, and emotional support to alleviate feelings of loneliness or anxiety.

   - Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, and recreational activities.

 

3. Household Management:

   - Perform light housekeeping tasks, including cleaning, laundry, and tidying up client living areas.

   - Plan and prepare nutritious meals based on dietary requirements and individual preferences.

   - Assist with grocery shopping, medication pick-up, and other errands.

   - Maintain a safe and organized living environment, identifying and addressing potential hazards.

 

4. Communication and Documentation:

   - Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.

   - Document client observations, care provided, and any changes in health or behavior.

   - Report concerns, incidents, or emergencies promptly and accurately to appropriate parties.

   - Maintain client confidentiality and adhere to privacy policies and regulations.

 

5. Care Plan Implementation:

   - Follow individual care plans developed in collaboration with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.

   - Administer medications, treatments, and therapies according to prescribed instructions.

   - Monitor and report any changes in client health or behavior to appropriate supervisors.

   - Assist with medical equipment use and maintenance, if required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

- Prevention and Support

- Article 9

- CPR/First Aid

- Safety Care Training

- High school diploma or equivalent. Certification as a caregiver or completion of a caregiver training program is desirable.

- Previous experience in caregiving, preferably in a home care or healthcare setting.

- Knowledge of personal care techniques, infection control practices, and basic first aid.

- Ability to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and respect for clients' dignity and autonomy.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.

- Strong observation and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.

- Physical stamina and the ability to lift, transfer, and assist clients with mobility.

- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, if required by the position.

- Willingness to undergo background checks and provide references.
