JMBM is seeking a highly qualified Legal Assistant with civil litigation experience for the Los Angeles office. The successful candidate will have experience with filing in state and federal court, a keen attention to detail, as well as excellent organizational and computer skills. A high degree of professionalism, ability to work independently and as a member of a dynamic, high-paced litigation team are also desired skills. In addition, poise, interpersonal and above-par communication skills are also required.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents.
  • Maintain electronic filing system which includes knowledge of filing, serving court documents, and retrieving information and other documents as needed.
  • Provide exceptional PowerPoint skills in relation to trial preparation, as well as Word and Excel.
  • Utilize your organizational skills to manage attorney time entry, calendars, schedule meetings, travel and seminars.
  • Employ your excellent written and verbal communication skills to handle a high volume of email, phone calls, drafting written responses, and replying via email or phone to requests for information.
  • Have advanced knowledge of general office equipment and law firm systems and be able to type and proofread general correspondence; create charts, tables, graphs and business plans as needed.  
  • Proficiency with electronic filing systems used by CA and federal courts to file pleadings.
  • Process vendor payments and attorney expense reports.
  • Apply your intuition and resourcefulness to manage independent workflow, attend meetings, analyze and solve problems, improve processes, and follow up on action items and other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
  • Knowledge of CCP, FRCP, and USPTO PTAB E2E online filing and docketing system preferred.

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Associate Degree or higher preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience in California state and federal court.
  • Paralegal certificate from ABA approved program preferred.

Position: Non-Exempt

Location: Century City. 5 days onsite for the first 90-days, the 4 days per week onsite, 1 day remote thereafter.

Salary: $85k - $95k base
