Responsibilities
- Assist in financial compliance reporting, and assemble all necessary report-related materials, including financial reports, organizational documents, etc. for submission to funders.
- Work with program and finance staff to monitor and ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions; manage, track and report on expenditures; and recommend grant modifications.
- Administer salary and benefits allocations, effort reporting, invoice preparation, assist in payment processing, grant projections, and account/month-end closing.
- Monitor funder financial reporting requirements and manage a reporting schedule for all grants and contracts. Ensure all required grant financial reports are prepared accurately and submitted on time. Identify grants financial management issues requiring attention.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including preparation of journal entries, P&L review, and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Support the monitoring of grant sub-awards and Subrecipient agreements.
- Assist in preparing audit schedules and work closely with the finance team and auditors to ensure the completion of a timely audit.
- Align and reconcile grant revenue data between the ERP and CRM systems.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience
- A minimum of 2-4 years of related experience that can come from public accounting and/or non-profit industry
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience
- Multiple donor type (federal, foundation, corporate, etc.) accounting management experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to pay close and accurate attention to detail, work under pressure, and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality
- Self-motivated and committed to personal and organizational excellence
- Advanced proficiency in Excel (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, Macros); Sage Intacct experience preferred but not required
- Experience with the Salesforce platform is a plus
- Familiarity with accounting and grant management software and CRM databases
Compensation and Benefit Package:

The total compensation package for this position is between $70,000 – $80,000 based on experience. In addition to having paid time off between December 25th and January 1st, we provide 18 days of paid time off plus 10 paid federal holidays, as well as birthday and diversity paid holidays. Additional days are provided to staff after three years. Depending on the calendar, additional paid closure days and early closure days are established each year. Our benefits include a comprehensive health plan with 90% individual healthcare coverage for employees, 403(B) retirement plans with a 3% match, whole life insurance and pre-tax commuter benefits. In addition, this position is hybrid and located out of our Greater DC Office. Staff members are expected to work 2-3 days a week in the office. Work hours are 40 hours per week and determined based on program needs to allow for both flexibility and work-life balance.
