Description

The Controller will be responsible for the planning and execution of all accounting operations of the company.

 

Job Functions

  • Facilitate the daily operations of the accounting department, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, assisting with bank reconciliations, payroll operations, and maintains the general ledger
  • Responsible for proper coding of invoices, maintaining a proper chart of accounts to facilitate proper internal and external financial reporting, including the reconciliation of accounts, and monthly closings
  • Oversee reconciliation of customer accounts and manage accounts receivable collections
  • Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Work with a public accounting firm to file the required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implements a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk
  • Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or are appropriate for internal management purposes
  • Report on significant variances in financial reporting along with explanation
  • Perform financial analysis related to merger and acquisition activities
  • Responsible for financial analysis, pricing updates, and contract execution for customers
  • Assists customers and vendors with inquiries and resolves disputes
  • Works with external accountants and provides the necessary information for the annual audit and tax return
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Preferred Talents

  • Extensive experience and knowledge of GAAP and audit concepts and principles
  • Substantial understanding of Federal and State tax issues
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of federal, state, and local employment regulations
  • Practices confidentiality regarding all financial and HR related information
  • Strong analytical skills and a focus on accuracy
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to learn other analytic tools

 

 

 

Qualifications Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university preferably Accounting or Finance
  • CPA certification or similar with 4-7 years audit or tax experience strongly preferred
