The Cultural Development & Wellness Center (CDWC) at Aurora Mental Health & Recovery (AMHR) is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Bilingual Domestic Violence Victim Advocate to join our team and work part-time 20 hours per week. We are committed to supporting victims of domestic violence and other crimes, with a special focus on immigrant and refugee communities. Candidates must be bilingual/fluent in English and Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, or Vietnamese, as we strive to provide culturally relevant advocacy and support to those most in need.

 

As a Victim Advocate, you will provide direct services, virtual and mobile advocacy, and comprehensive case management to individuals across the state. Your primary focus will be on assisting victims from AAPI and immigrant/refugee communities, ensuring they receive the resources and support necessary for recovery and rebuilding their lives. You will also conduct outreach, build relationships with service providers, and help advance a policy agenda that supports marginalized communities. This part-time position, supported by our grant-funded victim assistance department, offers a meaningful opportunity to make a real impact by helping clients stabilize their lives, enhance their safety, and navigate the criminal justice system. Term-limited. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position that may end on/around October 1, 2025 (longer if the grant extends). This position is grant funded and contingent on renewal of funding which we have had for the last decade. 

 

$1,000 Sign On Bonus Available! *Not eligible internal employees and re-hired employees within 90 days from separation.

Based on full-time (20 hours/week). Prorate if less than 20 hours/week. Paid in two installments: 50% on the first paycheck, 50% on the paycheck following 6-month anniversary.

 

Salary for this role. The starting wage is based on experience and company equity. Paid bi-weekly.

  • $20.04 - $30.05 per hour

 

Bilingual Language Differential Pay. *rate depends on language requirements for the position and the candidate's fluency. 

  • Employees will receive scheduled earnings bi-weekly, equivalent to 10% of their regular base rate (hourly or salaried), with a maximum amount of $6,000.00 per calendar year. The annual maximum amount will be prorated based on full-time equivalency (FTE). 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Provide case management and direct services through mobile advocacy, support, safety planning, and criminal justice advocacy based on victims' needs and assessments.
  • Provide immediate crisis assistance as well as support in identifying short-term and long-term needs of the client.
  • Work with client and their family to develop a safety plan.
  • Provide clients and their families with appropriate and available resources including housing support, employment resources, education and advocacy in criminal justice system/processes, and emergency funds.
  • Oversee and maintain confidential client records.
  • Provide biweekly case updates to the Victim Advocate Director.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with court, law enforcement, and victim assistance agencies.
  • Participate and offer outreach efforts to communities within the marginalized communities in CO.
  • Provide coverage at primary CDWC offices as well as satellite offices as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring and recording data and progress towards program goals and objectives.
  • Provide appropriate referral information to victims.
  • Attend and participate in training opportunities directly related to the position as they are made available.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by the Victim Assistance management.
  • This position is required to be on call for the 24-hour crisis line on a rotating basis with the other staff from Victim Assistance Department.
  • Expected travel time 65%, mileage reimbursement is available.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in criminal justice, social work, psychology, sociology, or related field
  • Or Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field with at least one year of behavioral health experience (including work as a case manager, addiction tech/specialist work, behavioral health specialist, residential counselor, family support specialist, and/or in victim advocacy/support).
  • Requires possession of a valid Colorado Driver's License, access to a reliable vehicle, and adequate car insurance
  • Bilingual Required: English and Arabic, Mandarin, Korean, or Vietnamese
  • Must have experience with case management and data collection.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of victim advocacy, trauma, and crisis intervention
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to execute independent judgment with minimal guidance and meet established deadlines in a fast-paced, high-output environment.
  • Ability to listen and respond professionally.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in statistical data maintenance and report writing.
  • Ability to access information, evaluate results, and determine an appropriate course of action.
  • Ability to work with minors

 

Required Vaccination and TB Test. 

At AMHR the health and safety of our clients and staff are our top priorities. As part of this commitment, all employees are required to receive an annual influenza (flu) shot and present a negative TB test result before their first day of work. Proof of both the flu shot and negative TB test must be provided on your first day of employment. Medical and religious exemptions can be requested if necessary.
