JOB OVERVIEW:
The Vice President, Brand Marketing, will lead overall brand strategy, creative development, and marketing execution across Common Sense. The VP will be responsible for driving brand strategy, expanding awareness, and strengthening the overall brand position. This role will oversee creative services, events strategy, and cross-channel marketing initiatives to ensure consistency and impact. The ideal candidate is a proven leader who can blend creative marketing strategies with mission-driven storytelling to engage diverse audiences. They will be data-driven and have a strong track record of managing high-performing teams.

SALARY: $160,000–$190,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Brand Strategy: Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive brand strategy that enhances awareness and strengthens the Common Sense brand. Ensure alignment of brand positioning, tone, and message across all channels and touchpoints.
- Campaign Leadership: Design and execute integrated marketing campaigns that effectively communicate the value of Common Sense's programs and resources. Ensure that campaigns resonate with target audiences, including families, educators, policymakers, and the broader community.
- Event Marketing & Creative Production: Oversee the creative development and production for major annual events, including our Common Sense Media Awards fundraiser and multi-day child advocacy summit, as well as smaller fundraising and friendraising events. Ensure that each event reflects the brand's values, maximizes storytelling opportunities, and delivers a high-impact experience for attendees.
- Creative Oversight: Oversee the design and video production teams to develop high-impact creative assets that align with brand guidelines and resonate with target audiences.
- Social Media Marketing: Oversee social media marketing team responsible for developing, implementing, and managing social media content across various platforms to build brand awareness, engage our audience, and drive growth.
- Partnership Marketing: Collaborate with external partners, sponsors, and influencers to co-create brand content and campaigns that amplify Common Sense's message and impact. Support marketing activations that leverage partnerships to expand brand visibility.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the CMO, communications, product, and partnerships teams to align brand marketing with organizational goals. Ensure that marketing efforts support key initiatives, including content distribution, education, advocacy, fundraising, and product launches.
- Media Relations & PR Support: Partner with the communications team to ensure that brand narrative is cohesive across all earned media channels.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Utilize data and analytics to track and measure the effectiveness of brand marketing efforts. Regularly report on KPIs, insights, and recommendations for optimization.
- AI-Forward Marketing Expertise: Demonstrate a proven ability to leverage AI-driven tools and strategies to enhance brand marketing initiatives, including personalized content creation, targeted customer engagement, and predictive analytics.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire the brand marketing team. Foster a culture of creativity, innovation, and collaboration within the marketing department, while providing opportunities for team members to grow professionally.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 10+ years of experience in brand marketing or creative services, preferably with tech, nonprofit, media, or mission-driven brands.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful brand strategies and large-scale integrated marketing campaigns, including developing and executing multi-channel campaigns across digital, social media, print, video, and experiential platforms.
- Experience overseeing brand activation at major in-person and online events and conferences.
- Expertise in storytelling, brand narrative creation, and communicating a consistent message across all touchpoints.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience in building and leading high-performing teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and collaborate across departments.
- Experience in digital marketing, content marketing, and social media strategy.
- Demonstrated success in working cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners.
- Creative thinker with the ability to translate big-picture goals into actionable strategies.
