JOB SUMMARY

The IT Support Specialist works in tandem with the IT Manager and other IT staff to ensure that Valley Health Care’s computer systems, software, hardware, and databases function effectively and securely. As an IT Support Specialist, you will work with other IT staff to implement IT solutions to improve healthcare delivery, support health information management, and maintain patient data privacy and security.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adheres to Valley Health Care’s Mission, Vision, and Value statements
  • Provides clinic staff with technical support for desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other network peripherals.
  • Trains VHC staff on the use of new systems and software
  • Responds to user-level problems with related applications.
  • Provides prompt response to requests for support for our organization and is expected to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Interacts with applications software and operating systems to diagnose and resolve unique problems.
  • Provides analysis, troubleshooting, installation, and testing of computer systems.
  • Sets up new users into Valley Health Care (VHC) systems in accordance with established standards and guidelines.
  • Upgrades equipment and software, performs software installation and patches, configures updates, and replaces hardware.
  • Ensures and protects cyber security through staff training & monitoring, firewall management, maintaining PCI compliance, and conducting routine security checks.
  • Responds to supervisory feedback, utilizing constructive criticism in a positive manner.
  • Maintains open communication and observes chain of command.
  • Is a team player, working well with peers and others.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of computer software including EMR software applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
  • Knowledge of firewall configurations
  • Ability to make changes with phone system configurations
  • Ability to run and terminate network cable connections
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Ability to assemble, set up, and provide solutions for hardware.
  • Ability to provide problem solving techniques and reach solutions.
  • Experience in working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to learn the computer technology and programs necessary to utilize hardware and software, as needed.
  • Ability to educate others for information technology related topics.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Valid WV Driver’s license
  • Computer hardware assembly and computer set up experience
  • Operating systems experience
