POSITION SCOPE
This is a full-time position. The purpose of the position is to proofread, copyedit and coordinate the print and layout production of puzzles, columns and games for newspaper clients. The goal is to deliver a print-ready product for the consumer market. The production editor will act as a liaison between the syndicates and the clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Proofread and copy edit puzzles, columns and games
- Responsible for the layout and production of puzzles, columns, games and comics
- Work successfully and in conjunction with clients to deliver fully paginated comic/advice/puzzle pages each week
- Communicate with syndicate editorial staffs when errors in the content are found
- Help ensure the department maintains a high level of accuracy and adherence to AP Style
- Act as project manager for client redesigns and requests, providing design work and offering creative suggestions as necessary
- Communicate with creators and syndicates on behalf of the clients
- Assist manager on various pagination projects as necessary

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, or related field, preferred
- 1-2 years’ newspaper industry or print experience preferred
- Customer service experience highly preferred
- Familiarity with AP Style
- Proficient in both PC and Macintosh operating systems
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including Acrobat, InDesign and Photoshop
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
