About the Position

The Vice President – Mission Critical & Industrials will lead NEI’s strategy, growth, and client delivery across the industrial sectors including data centers, oil & gas, mining, metals, water, wastewater, and other large-load industrial customers. This role will oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on supporting the electrical power infrastructure within this market.  This role will be responsible for market development, financial performance, team health, and technical quality within the sector.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in delivering electrical infrastructure projects within industrial environments and thrives in a collaborative, client-focused environment. This role will report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of NEI’s executive leadership team.

Salary Range: $200,000 - $250,000 / year

The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.

This opportunity is available to both local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.

Mission

To lead NEI’s mission critical and industrial market vertical with a focus on delivering high-value, end-to-end electrical power solutions to large-load industrial customers by partnering within broader project delivery teams.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Build and execute the industrial market strategy to serve data centers, oil & gas, mining, water/wastewater, and other industrial customers requiring more than 50MW.
  • Lead and grow a high-performing multidisciplinary engineering and design team focused on industrial customer electrical power system needs.
  • Partner with EPCs, architects, general contractors, and A/E firms to integrate NEI as the preferred electrical power delivery partner.
  • Manage client relationships across the industrial portfolio; serve as executive sponsor and primary point of contact for key accounts.
  • Oversee P&L performance, including backlog health, revenue forecasting, gross margin, and staff utilization.
  • Guide project execution standards in partnership with PMO and Engineering Office to ensure technical excellence and project efficiency.
  • Define and enforce standard best practices, technical guidelines, and scalable delivery frameworks.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other Market VPs and corporate departments to ensure resourcing, client handoffs, and margin health.
  • Represent NEI at industry events, conferences, and client forums.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, go-to-market alignment, and firmwide initiatives.
  • Provides support to business development, proposals, and marketing groups as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Must Have

  • Education: BSEE, BSEET, BSCE from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: 8+ years of engineering experience and 5+ years of engineering management experience
  • Licensure: PE preferred
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with medium and high voltage power systems in at least one of the industrial submarket sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and defining the vision and strategy.
  • Experience building out teams and new technical services.
  • Experience overseeing a client portfolio and managing all project and resource management aspects.
  • Proven record of managing client relationships with a demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with clients.
  • Track record of continuous improvement and education while staying aware of emerging trends and challenges in the mission critical and industrial market.
  • Demonstrates effective written and oral communications skills; including good interpersonal communication and relationship building skills; ability to interact successfully at all levels of the organization; high emotional intelligence.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting and some field work may be required.

Managerial Responsibility:

 

Team Member is responsible for the general oversight of the departments Technical Directors and the review of financial statements, team utilization, QA/QC, and employee professional development and growth.
