Job Description

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: Maintains, organizes and controls the IIMC inventory. Maintains quality control over incoming and outgoing inventory. Assists in the processes necessary in order to provide accessible educational materials for Illinois students with visual impairments. Monitors and maintains materials contained in inventory and in the materials database.

 

RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS: This position holds no supervisory responsibility.

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Monitors and maintains information on database to assure accuracy.
  • Ensures integrity of the database for quality control of the inventory.
  • Performs general administrative duties as necessary.
  • Processes and shelves incoming materials according to departmental procedures.
  • Creates and applies bar code labels to textbooks.
  • Pulls titles for shipment.
  • Creates packing slips.
  • Monitors database and inventory for updates (shipping, receiving and purging). Utilizes database for inventory control purposes.
  • Checks for title availability as needed.
  • Binds Braille books as needed.
  • Completes required paperwork and routes it appropriately.
  • Assists in managing program resources and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Annually reconciles files for completeness.
  • Assists in the shipping of accessible educational materials as needed.
  • Must cross train with IIMC staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school graduate with a least one year post-secondary education required.
  • Inventory control experience preferred.
  • Previous experience working with databases required.
  • Library experience helpful.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel helpful.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail orientation essential.
  • Self-starter. Good interpersonal and administrative skills.
