Medical Assistant 1:

Provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in an outpatient clinic setting.  The Medical Assistant I, works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor for non-clinical responsibilities. 

 

Medical Assistant 2:

Provides routine clinical and administrative support to providers and other health care team members in an outpatient clinic setting.  The Medical Assistant II, works under the clinical supervision of the provider for patient care activities, and under the general direction of the designated manager/supervisor for non-clinical responsibilities.

 

Medical Assistant 3:

Perform advanced administrative and clinical tasks to keep the offices of physicians and other health practitioners running smoothly. The duties of MA/Scribes vary from office to office, depending on the location and size of the practice and the practitioner's specialty. They are active and valuable members of their healthcare teams, providing real-time charting for physicians by shadowing them throughout their shifts and performing a variety of helpful tasks. A core responsibility is to capture accurate and detailed documentation (handwritten, electronic, or otherwise) of the encounter in a timely manner. The MA will also accompany the physician and directly observe patient encounters while accurately documenting the events and decision-making in a manner that results in appropriate medical charting. They will also complete the clerical activities necessary to assist with processing of physician’s orders for tests and medications. MA are not permitted to make independent decisions or translations while capturing or entering information into the health record or EHR beyond what is directed by the provider.

Qualifications

Medical Assistant 1:

Education/Certifications:

Requires high school diploma or GED.
Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required.
Basic Life Support Certification 
 
Experience:

Medical assistant externship experience required.

Medical assistance experience preferred.

 

Medical Assistant 2:

Education/Certification:

Requires high school diploma or GED. 

Completion of a Medical Assisting program accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is strongly preferred but not required.

Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA). 

Basic Life Support Certification 

Experience:

Possess at least one year of full-time experience as a Credentialed Medical Assistant. 

 

Medical Assistant 3:

Education/Certification:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program.

Requires Medical Assistant certification by either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Health Career Association (CCMA), National Association of Health Professional (NRCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA).  

Basic Life Support (BLS).
Experience:
One year experience as a Medical Assistant required.
