Program Aide 

 

EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for 62,888 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Program Aide to work full time for its Suffolk County Children's Center.

The Program Aide position is a non-exempt position paying $17-19 per hour at 35 hours per week. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM and the office is located in Central Islip, NY. The role reports to the Program Supervisor..

Primary Purpose of Job: 

The Program Aide is responsible for providing direct supervision and care to children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years, whose parents or guardians are attending to court-related matters. The Program Aide ensures that the Children’s Center maintains a safe, secure, and nurturing environment that promotes the well-being of every child.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities: 

  1. Actively engage children in age-appropriate activities to foster interest and development.
  2. Assist volunteers in meeting the needs of the children and provide guidance as needed.
  3. Ensure compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulations to maintain a secure environment.
  4. Provide diaper changes and assist with basic hygiene needs as necessary.
  5. Report to the Supervisor and communicate effectively to support smooth daily operations.

 

Knowledge, skills And Abilities Required: 

  1. High School Diploma or educational equivalent required.
  2. Ability to lift children and toddlers up to 50 pounds as needed.
  3. Prior work experience in childcare or a related field preferred.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage emergency situations calmly and effectively.
