Business Services Representative

 

EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 62,888 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks and Business Services Representative to work full time for its Career Services program.

The Business Services Representative is a non-exempt position paying $36.30 per hour at 35 hours per week. The hours of operation are Monday- Friday 9:00AM-4:45PM and the office is located in Hempstead, NY. The role reports to the Program Supervisor.

Primary Purpose of Job:

The Business Services Representative implements employment strategies that provide skilled employees to businesses and helps job seekers to find work by engaging with businesses.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Perform outreach to employers and business associations (e.g. Chambers of Commerce, Industry
Associations, etc.) to inform them of business services available at HempsteadWorks
2. Assist employers in completing job order forms and promoting their open positions
3. Assist employers in the development of job descriptions and training plan through research of O’Net
4. Coordinate with employers to host hiring/recruitment events
5. Create flyers for events and post them on the HempsteadWorks website
6. Collaborate with HempsteadWorks career counselors to identify viable candidates to fill employer
positions
7. Promote to employers training programs that include incumbent worker training, customized training,
on-the-job training, and internships
8. Develop internships and on-the-training
9. Monitor businesses to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws
10. Provide businesses with information on employment and labor issues, tax credits and financial
incentives
11. Acquire new business members for the Hempstead/Long Beach Local Workforce Development Board
(LWDB)
12. Keep record of employer events, number of attendees, and job placements
13. Attend staff webinars, workshops, and trainings
14. Collaborate with consultants, partners, staff, businesses and business associations to conduct
sector-based business services
15. Provide reports and perform clerical duties, as required
16. Make presentations to the LWDB, Youth Standing Committee and other entities
17. Conduct surveys and acquire workforce intelligence for grant development and planning purposes
18. Represent the LWDB on the Long Island Business Services Team

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:

  1. Bachelors Degree required.
  2. 1-2 years experience in a similar role.
  3. Must have access to automobile and possess valid Driver's License.
  4. Excellent customer service skills and ability to foster relationships with businesses.
  5. Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
