Peer Specialist

We’re looking for a Peer Specialist for our Home Base (Intensive) Program to empower families facing difficult challenges like substance abuse and mental illness.

Your Mission:
As a Peer Specialist, you’ll use your own lived experiences to help families in crisis feel supported and understood. You’ll be working hand-in-hand with our Case Management Unit to deliver peer support and assist with daily operations. Whether it's home visits, phone check-ins, or facilitating youth groups, you’ll be making a difference in meaningful ways.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Families in Crisis: Offer peer support to families dealing with substance abuse and mental health issues through home visits, phone check-ins, and in-person encouragement.
- Plan and Lead Activities: Take clients on recreational outings and lead group activities for adolescents to help them engage and grow.
- Ensure Monthly Visits: Make sure families receive the visits they need each month as directed by the Program Director.
- Manage Resources: Follow the procedures for managing petty cash and program funds responsibly.
- Run Educational Workshops: Organize and lead monthly workshops for adolescents to provide them with life skills and support.
- Keep Records Up-to-Date: Maintain accurate client records and make them available for review when needed.
- Provide Crisis Intervention: Step in to assist families during moments of crisis when necessary.
- Collaborate with Team: Work closely with program staff and referral agencies to ensure families get the support they need.
- Stay Professional: Interact respectfully and professionally with families and all partners.
- Engage in Team Meetings: Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to stay informed and continuously improve.
What we are looking for:
- Life Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. If you’re in recovery, we ask that you’ve achieved at least three years of sobriety.
- Community Resources: Must have knowledge of treatment and mental health programs.
- Hands-on Knowledge: Familiarity with substance abuse, mental health, criminal justice, or adolescent behavior is a huge plus.
- Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable with Microsoft Office, email, and spreadsheets to keep everything on track.
- Strong Communication: You can connect with people from all walks of life, from families to agencies, with ease and professionalism.
