Nutrition Program Assistant (Bilingual)
EAC Network, a not-for-profit social service agency that empowers, assists, and cares for over 62,888 people in need through 100 programs across Long Island and NYC, seeks a Bilingual Nutrition Program Assistant to work full time for its Nutrition Education & Food Services Program.
The Bilingual Nutrition Program Assistant is a non-exempt position paying $26 per hour at 35 hours per week. The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM and the office is located in Hauppauge, NY. The role reports to the Senior Director.

Primary Purpose of Job:
The Nutrition Program Assistant Bi-Lingual is responsible for assisting the Community Nutrition Education with Coordinating nutrition health educations for Spanish speaking HIV+ clients and related program responsibilities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the Community Nutrition Educator, assist with coordinating nutrition health education sessions that promote retention in medical care and treatment for Spanish speaking HIV+ clients.
- Maintain all client records, electronically track and document client participation in program activities such as nutrition health education.
- Make and follow-up with referrals for community services i.e. other food programs such as soup kitchen, and entitlements.
- Conduct off-site intakes and make appointments for screening with Community Nutrition Educator.
- Assist the Community Nutrition Educator in conducting program outreach and collaborate with medical providers and Registered Dietitians to promote client retention in care.
- Maintain regular contact with Spanish speaking program clients and document progress notes that summarize their progress in meeting individualized nutritional goals.
- Responsible for distributing weekly pantry bags.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- Associates degree in health or human services required, Bachelors degree preferred.
- Minimum 1-years experience working in the field of HIV/AIDS or with other chronic illness.
- Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing in English and Spanish (bilingual required).
- Must be familiar with community services for Persons Living with HIV/AIDS in Nassau County and have the ability to work cooperatively with them and other providers.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be able to lift food delivery items of up to 10-20 lbs.
- Must be proficient in computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, Microsoft Office applications, calendar, and email and/or database software necessary to perform work assignments.
