Malibu TN CAD Technician

Summary This position will combine creative aesthetics design with practical understanding of mechanical & industrial engineering.  This position will support both New Product Engineering and Product Integration in all areas of CAD modeling, primarily in the soft grip department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities  

• Preparation of 3D CAD drawings for parts, components and assemblies for new product or designs.
• Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, compliance to standards, fits and stack-ups.
• Work from drawings, sketches, physical parts, computer models or scanned images.
• Works daily to solve complex problems and determine best path, with a strong grasp of root cause analysis.
• Works daily with multi-discipline teams to coordinate the development and implementation of new products.
• Regularly Investigates system/product weaknesses to continuously improve and prevent further issues.
• Regularly evaluates CAD of new system components necessary to ensure proper functionality of a product.
• Works with outside vendors/suppliers to provide feedback for product design, areas of improvement, and testing results.
• Supporting marine soft grip production by supplying CAD models for CNC equipment, evaluate soft grip fit and make changes where needed.
• Troubleshooting existing designs and making improvements as needed.
• Upfront system design and integrated testing of product.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications 

Education and/or Experience                                                   

• Post secondary school training in drafting (2-4 year technical certificate or degree from an accredited institution preferred) combined with 1 – 3 years of experience preparing drawings of differing scales of difficulty; or,
• A minimum of three years of experience preparing drawings of differing scales of difficulty
• Experience in Rhino or NX Preferred
• Minimum 2-years’ experience in Solidworks and AutoCAD required

Language Skills                                                

English required. Effective communication skills will be necessary to perform tasks.

Mathematical Skills                                                     

• Ability to compute data using standardized formulae.

Reasoning Ability                                             

• Must maintain a strong understanding of general problem solving, logical reasoning, and root cause analysis.

Work Environment 

Safety glasses required while in production areas

Other PPE may be required based on specific projects.

Typical __8-10___ hour work days, frequent overtime required.
