Position Summary

The Market Development Manager provides marketing intelligence and develops a Marketing Strategy for the North American market by identifying and characterizing market trends and segments, prioritizing growth opportunities, positioning, and pricing, and creating and capturing value through differentiated product and service offerings. Success in this position is defined by drive to understand customer needs; ability to develop sound business cases and actionable strategies to increase growth; and leadership ability in coordinating/leading Sales and Technical teams.

Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Analyzes available market data to generate leads for the salesforce that reflect the overall strategic direction of the company
  • Provides input and helps develop business cases to direct the activities of the Product Development and Technical Service teams to ensure that commercial priorities receive the highest focus.
  • Monitors changing business conditions (industry trends, geo-political influences, consumer trends, etc.) to ensure early detection of risks to the business. Contributes to the formation of a strategy to mitigate any possible negative effects and/or take full advantage of opportunities discovered.
  • Suggests ideas and manages the implementation of marketing initiatives to further grow the company's brand recognition and loyalty (ie: website updates, advertising initiatives, trade show participation, etc.).
  • May manage specific strategic customers as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises the marketing staff, including the Marketing Analyst and Marketing Specialist roles, as well as any third-party consulting staff that may be involved in marketing projects. As a member of the commercial leadership team, will provide advice on policies and procedures as appropriate or assigned.

 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Requires application of knowledge in a specialized field.
  • Ability to plan & organize work.
  • Capable of solving problems of a difficult nature, within field of specialization.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or industry related technical field; MBA is strongly desired or specialized education equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Prefer 8-10 years of experience in product based B2B commercial development and/or marketing role in the polymer industry (masterbatch preferred, in-depth knowledge of our target markets required)
