Position Summary

This contract role will focus on training delivery that supports the effective onboarding, retention, and development of our volunteer community members. There may also be opportunities to deliver training to Thread staff, young people, and partners. Training Specialists must be local to Baltimore or live within driving distance, and must be willing to travel to locations around Baltimore for training delivery. Must be available on weeknights for training delivery. Availability during some weekday hours for meetings and coordination is a plus. The estimated level of effort is up to 20 hours per month, with seasonal fluctuation. Current and former Thread community members and Baltimore-based educators are encouraged to apply.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate engaging and participatory training sessions (in person) for key Thread audiences such as volunteer community members

  • Integrate authentic voice/perspective, Thread’s core competencies, and an equity lens into facilitation of learning spaces

  • Support facilitated spaces as a producer/training assistant, as needed

  • Collaborate with other Learning & Development team members at Thread to ensure that content, materials, and facilitation create a quality learning experience for participants

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills

  • 2+ years of teaching/facilitation experience

  • Comfort facilitating/teaching participants that span many lines of difference, including gender identity, race, age, faith, and education level 

  • Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills

  • Exceptional computer skills and familiarity with Google Workspace

  • Familiarity with the concepts of social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion 

  • Agile and nimble teaching/facilitation style

  • Willingness to try new tools and technologies that enhance learning delivery

  • Strong alignment with the Thread model, mission, vision and theory of change required. Current and former Thread community members are most welcome.

 

Pay Rate:$35 per hour
