JOB STATEMENT

The Bar & Events Manager directs and oversees all bar & events operations including managing staff, ensuring product and service standards are met, implementing, and maintaining procedures for maximum operating efficiency, as well as booking and executing all external events. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on client requirements and business needs.

 

JOB DUTIES

  • Adheres to all alcohol service policies and safe drinking guidelines.
  • Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that the bar is well staffed during peak hours.
  • Adheres to a weekend schedule of either Saturday or Sunday show permitting.
  • Quality control on the set up and breakdown of workstations, including cleaning and sanitizing.
  • Assisting inventory counts and ensures product is stocked to appropriate levels.
  • Provides excellent customer service, anticipating guest’s needs.
  • Assists Food and Beverage Manager in creating and implementing innovative bar offerings.
  • Maintains a positive attitude towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc.
  • Ensures security of company assets
  • Responsible for all Food & Beverage budget tracking
  • Executes and presents end-of-show reporting with Food and Beverage Manager
  • Responds promptly to all incoming external events leads.
  • Communicates professionally with all external events clients and vendors.
  • Creates and edits all Banquet Event Orders and Contracts for externally booked events.
  • Manages company Tripleseat account.
  • Collects and tracks deposits for all external events.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by Food and Beverage Manager and Operations Manager
  • On call response on all show shifts.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Updates job descriptions, hiring and training new team members.
  • Manages scheduled service show permitting.
  • Motivating and coaching employees to improve performance, provide feedback and training opportunities.
  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of departmental staff.
  • Conducts or assists with performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Ensuring staff members follow company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for managing and executing all externally booked events.
  • Responsible for entering and tracking time-clock entries and tips for bar and event staff.

REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS and KNOWLEDGE):

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, energized and quickly changing environment.
  • Restaurant, bar management, and event management experience
  • Strong understanding of business management and accounting principles
  • Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
  • Willingness to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources.
  • Previous experience as a bartender preferred.
  • Proven knowledge of bartending principals and recipes
  • Must be able to obtain all state/local required alcohol service certifications.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Experience managing and executing large and small events.
  • Tripleseat experience preferred.
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling of up to 25 lbs.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Essential physical requirements are standing for extended periods of time, lifting 25 lbs. routinely, bending, squatting, raising both arms over head, moving and adjusting to tight spaces.
  • Typical hours are during the day, but the position requires flexibility to be available for weekend, holidays and evening work hours as needed.
