Psychiatrist

StarCare Specialty Health System (StarCare) is seeking a full time Psychiatrist to join its outstanding team supporting people with mental illness at Sunrise Canyon Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital.

Responsibilities:

• Provide psychiatric and related medical services to Sunrise Canyon Hospital Inpatient unit.
• Provide psychiatric and related medical services to the Behavioral Health Outpatient Clinic, as may be needed.
• Conducts psychiatric examinations.
• Diagnose and treat mental abnormalities.
• Prescribe course of treatment
• Evaluate patient progress.
• Conducts psychiatric treatment.
• Participate in the development of interdisciplinary treatment plans.

Essential Duties:

• Complete required documentation within Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Work within expected clinical parameters and licensure with Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Provide services that support organizational values, quality improvement initiatives and outcome measures.
• Assist with special projects and/ or assignments.
• Monitor outcome measures, as identified, through Quality Improvement activities to assure licensure and accreditation standards are met.
• Mentor and direct residents or students, as needed.

Schedule: This is a full-time/exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.  On Call needs will be required based on a rotation basis.

Qualifications:

• Required Education: Degreed as a medical physician and licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas and Board Certified or eligible in Psychiatry. 

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of psychiatry.
• Knowledge of methods and procedures used in diagnosing and treating psychiatric disorders.
• Knowledge of evidence-based practice trends and developments in the field of psychiatry and public mental health programs.
• Knowledge of legal, accreditation, and certification requirements for psychiatric practice and documentation.
• Knowledge of current social and economic problems as they relate to general and psychiatric program planning.
• Ability to make accurate diagnoses of complex psychiatric problems and to select and apply a variety of treatment methods.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate the practice, techniques, and treatment procedures employed in psychiatry for need and effectiveness.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients and their family members, employees, and mental health professionals.
• Serve as an interdisciplinary team leader.
• Demonstrate superior leadership and managerial oversight.
• Serve on hospital committees as required.
• Take accountability for compliance with Federal, State and Joint Commission guidelines.
• Demonstrate effective communication.
• Works effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Additional Requirements:

• Must pass a pre-hire drug screen and criminal background check.
• Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance.
