What You Will Do:

As the Facilities Director, you will lead the facilities & maintenance team for the NatureBridge campus at Olympic National Park. You will oversee the maintenance of buildings and grounds and related budgeting and capital spending, compliance, procurement and project and construction management.

This position takes place at our campus in Olympic National Park, and cannot be performed remotely.

Your primary job will be to:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Ensure that the Olympic Campus facilities, including NatureBridge and NPS assets, are well-maintained. Ensure that all facilities operations and work meet federal safety and health standards required by the National Park Service (NPS).
  • Serve as the facilities liaison to the National Park Service, ensuring that all work completed complies with NPS policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Oversee the planning, project management, and scheduling of all facilities team activities. Establish team priorities and be accountable for the timely completion of projects and tasks. 
  • Manage all facilities vendor contracts, services and relationships, including RFPs, contracts, payments, renewals and communication.
  • Develop and oversee all aspects of the Facilities budget, including monitoring monthly expenses. 
  • Create, document and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance and repair plan and multi-year capital projects and investment plans.
  • Procure equipment and supplies and administer payment of all invoices.
  • Oversee water treatment operation and compliance for NPS staff housing unit. 
  • Manage work order system and processes and requests. Monitor customer feedback and communicate and respond appropriately.
  • Lead and oversee management of staff housing rental units, including lease agreement, compliance, communication and maintenance as needed.
  • Oversee boat and vehicle fleet use, repairs, maintenance, allocation and purchases.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Encourage a culture of innovation in sustainable practices in keeping with NatureBridge’s mission.
  • Build and lead high-functioning and collaborative teams and drive positive department and campus culture.
  • Serve as a member of the Olympic Leadership Team and partner and collaborate with other directors at Olympic and at the National office. 
  • Be available for staff and thoughtfully consider organizational needs in decision-making processes. 
  • Represent the facilities department as needed with the Olympic Board of Directors.
  • Recruit and hire facilities staff
  • Supervise, train, support and evaluate facilities team and individual staff


 

Compensation:

  • $64,000-70,000 annual salary

Qualifications

Who You Are:

We are looking for candidates who have:

  • Five years of relevant Facilities and Maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Leadership and management experience in facilities is essential.
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness, positivity and mature judgment, particularly in stressful or challenging conditions. 
  • Strong personnel management experience and skills, including a history of success with coaching and developing staff, performance management, and team-building and management.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, customer service-driven environment. Flexibility to meet changing and unpredictable requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities in maintaining buildings, grounds and transportation assets, including technical skills and knowledge about plumbing, electrical, HVAC and carpentry. Contracting experience is a plus.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and on a team
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with customers, staff and park partners, and vendors. 
  • Excellent problem-solving ability. 
  • Excellent organizational skills. Able to successfully prioritize and coordinate multiple programs and assigned tasks. 
  • Able to function within a complex, regulatory environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret and apply standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Understanding of NPS facility-related policies and procedures is a plus.
  • Proven track record as a financially responsible budget manager.
  • Proficiency with Google Suite is required. Experience or ability to learn and use Salesforce tools.
  • Experience leading continuous process improvement initiatives is a plus.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace.
