NatureBridge also operates adult conference programs that financially support our educational programs.  Bringing organizations and communities to our campus for retreats is a way to further encourage connection to the natural world.  

 

What You Will Do:

As the Hospitality Director you will oversee the food service and housekeeping functions for the campus and its adult and student programs. You will lead and manage the Kitchen Manager and Lead Housekeeper and their teams to ensure high quality, smooth and efficient food service and housekeeping operations for all NatureBridge participants. 

 

This position takes place at our campus in Olympic National Park and cannot be performed remotely.

Your primary job will be to:

Supervision and Support

  • Establish and maintain a productive and healthy department culture.
  • Recruit, hire, and oversee the on- and off-boarding of  kitchen and housekeeping staff. 
  • Supervise, coach and develop the Kitchen Manager and Lead Host/Housekeeper to mentor staff individually regarding professional goals within their role.
  • Provide direct support to the team and staff as needed, including troubleshooting issues as they arise. filling in roles and shifts and be available as on-call back-up support.
  • Lead performance management of staff including regular training, coaching and developing staff, supporting individual performance, holding accountability for supervisors and conducting annual performance reviews.
  • Develop and lead monthly team meetings and kitchen and housekeeping staff meetings.
  • Work with managers to create, maintain, and update weekly schedules for housekeeping and kitchen staff, and a standby process 
  • Ensure staff are current with compliance and role requirements (e.g. food handlers licenses, etc.)

 

Operations

  • Monitor and update annual department budgets.
  • Create and implement departmental goals,  oversee projects and initiatives, and plan for improvements and future growth.
  • Maintain accurate program information in database systems, calendars, Google Docs, operational documents, manuals, etc.
  • Attend weekly and monthly staff meetings with other leadership teams.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to support the sales process including leading campus tours for prospective conference groups.
  • Oversee bi-monthly staff timesheet review and approval.
  • Ensure compliance with health code and safety regulations
  • Purchase kitchen and housekeeping supplies; ensure inventory is maintained.
  • Be open to helping other departments operationally when in need.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Customer Service and Program Delivery

  • Coordinate conferences and ensure participants are informed and prepared for their stay on campus. This includes communications, data collection, and campus coordination and planning.
  • Address all conference-related comments, concerns, feedback, and any conflicts in a professional and timely manner.
  • Offer and role model excellent customer service and communication.
  • Help respond to the needs of participants on-site and troubleshoot situations

 

Compensation:

  • $65,000 - 67,000 annual salary

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • Previous related workplace experience in the hospitality area, including food service and housekeeping; experience in an educational setting a plus. 
  • Previous success in a management role.
  • Willingness to earn and maintain a ServSafe Manager certification.
  • Openness to contribute ideas, actively listen and, strive for effective, clear communication.
  • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize and multi-task in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication skills with staff and clients; Diplomatic and effective at resolving conflict.
  • Strong team player - ability to work as part of a team and maintain a service-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in the workplace.   • Flexible and adaptable. Be a fast learner and able to pivot when circumstances change. 
  • Demonstrate ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Although usually maintains regular business office hours, have availability and flexibility to work various hours throughout each week, including weekdays, early and late shifts, occasional weekends, and be on-call.
  • Capability to lift and move moderately heavy objects (tables, chairs, etc).
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills (internet, email, Google Suite) and ability to learn Salesforce and other technologies as needed.
