The position is responsible for helping to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate Christian educational program in accordance with all Red Hill Lutheran Church and School policies and procedures. Under direction of classroom teachers, assist and instruct pupils in a combination of academic, social, behavioral, and other related skill areas; Perform a variety of complex and responsible duties in providing information and assistance to students, staff, parents, and the public by using RHLS systems and processes.

Education/Experience (Preferred):
Possession of a Baccalaureate or higher degree. Preference for educational related degrees with emphasis in elementary education, instructional technology, a subject matter field commonly taught in the primary/elementary grades, or closely related field areas.
Preferred experience serving within a full time elementary classroom.

Principles, theories, methods, techniques, and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction of primary/elementary grade pupils; child growth and development and behavior characteristics of the primary/elementary grade child; educational curriculum and instructional goals and objectives, and the educational trends and research findings pertaining to childhood educational programming; behavior management and behavior shaping strategies, techniques and methods, and conflict resolution procedures; socio-economic and cultural background differences of the general school population.
Ability to:
Delivery of a comprehensive teaching and instruction program for students in a K-8 classroom; provide effective learning experiences for pupils from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds and with varying mental, social, and emotional levels; with direction from the teacher, effectively assess the Christian educational needs of students; which may include assisting in the implementation of sound individualized educational plans; providing an attractive, inviting, and stimulating learning environment; comply with the school’s customer service standards, as outlined in school policy.
