Reports to: Project Director of PPOHA grant

Status: Full Time, Exempt, Onsite

Salary: $77,250 - $84,414

Location: Residential (onsite)

Supervises: Graduate Student Success Coach Mentors

 

General Description:

Under the general supervision of the Project Director of the PPOHA grant, will be responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive wrap-around support services for graduate students across all postbaccalaureate programs at NDNU. This position will monitor and manage programs that provide social, emotional, academic, career, and financial support to enhance student success, retention, and degree completion. The PPOHA grant funds this position, and its duration is contingent upon the continued funding of the PPOHA grant.

Specific Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Facilitate access to holistic support services for graduate students, including counseling, mentoring, career assistance, and financial aid.
  • Monitor the creation and management of social and emotional support services.
  • Coordinate with the Academic Success Center to enhance and support academic support services, such as tutoring, study skills workshops, and writing assistance programs.
  • Assist in organizing and managing career development initiatives with NDNU schools of Education, Psychology, and Business, including career fairs, networking events, and job search workshops.
  • Verify data of financial support programs, including emergency funds and scholarships. Promote financial literacy workshops.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other university departments to ensure comprehensive and integrated support for graduate students.
  • Train professional staff involved in support service delivery; train and supervise graduate assistants and student workers involved in support service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with external organizations to enhance support services and career opportunities for students.
  • Create and implement assessment tools to evaluate the effectiveness of support programs and make data-driven improvements.
  • Assist in managing the budget for graduate student support services, ensuring efficient use of grant funding and resources.
  • Serve as an advocate for graduate students, addressing their unique needs and concerns within the university community.
  • Stay current with best practices in graduate student support and, in conjunction with the Academic Success Center, implement innovative programs to enhance student success.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Psychology, Counseling, Student Services, or related field
  • 3 years of experience in higher education student success services preferred, knowledge of and experience in a college environment not limited to registration, student success, financial aid, and business office.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Skills in providing career and academic coaching and mentoring in an individual or group setting.
  • Academic Support: Knowledge of academic support services like tutoring, study skills workshops, and writing assistance programs.
  • Career Development: Experience in organizing career fairs, networking events, and job search workshops.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with faculty, staff, and other university departments.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Ability to lead and train professional staff, graduate assistants, and student workers.
  • Partnership Building: Skills in developing relationships with external organizations and community leaders.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Capability to create and implement assessment tools to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets and allocating resources efficiently.
  • Student Advocacy: Ability to understand and address the unique needs and concerns of graduate students.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong technical and analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges in student support.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent ability to plan, coordinate, and execute multiple programs and events.
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of diversity and inclusion principles to serve a diverse graduate student population.
  • Technology Skills: Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for program management and communication
