Description

SUMMARY:

The Bar/Lounge Team Lead acts as a bartender and supervises the setup and service of a banquet/event bar.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • ID all customers that appear under 30 years old.
  • Supervise assigned bartenders and bar backs. 
  • Mixes and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages according to standard recipes and procedures.
  • Monitor customers and discontinue service when they appear to be intoxicated.
  • Secure alcohol during non-operational hours in accordance with state law.
  • Set up bar and appropriately stock bar in the designated location on time for events. 
  • Handle customer complaints in an appropriate manner.
  • Clean up after customers leave your work area and at end of shift.
  • Suggest higher cost products to produce higher ticket averages.
  • Report all incidents that occur to the department manager.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

  • Must be 19 years old or older, 21 preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Bartending education and six months experience or one year of related experience required.
  • Two years previous serving experience in a full-service restaurant or banquets preferred. 
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience required.
  • Previous interviewing and hiring experience preferred.
  • Must have or be able to acquire a Tips Card or Alcohol Serve Safe Certificate.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Cashiering skills preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of mixology required. 
  • Must be able guide, coach, and work well with a team.
  • Must be skilled at managing conflict and influencing outcomes.
  • Must be adept at multi-tasking.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills required; excellent written communication skills preferred.
  • Presentation and organizational skills preferred.
  • Strong problem solving and prioritizing skills required.
  • Should understand the theory of progressive discipline.
