TemperPack is a rapidly growing company based in Richmond, Virginia and Las Vegas, NV. We design and manufacture innovative, sustainable packaging components for cold-chain shipping of food and pharmaceutical products. The markets we serve have an urgent need for disruptive, sustainable alternatives to replace the wide array of non-sustainable packaging materials conventionally used in the cold-chain, such as Styrofoam coolers. Description:
The Manager, Procurement Operations at TemperPack is responsible for developing and executing purchasing strategies, tracking metrics, and managing vendors. They collaborate with stakeholders, forecast market trends, and ensure clear requirements documentation. Their role involves analyzing costs, mitigating risks, and determining optimal delivery quantities and timings. Strong leadership, negotiation, and analytical skills are required.

TemperPack is committed to environmentally friendly solutions, and as such the leader of the Procurement Operations team of Buyers must be knowledgeable about sustainable materials and vendors. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical skills, communicate effectively, and lead both internal teams and external vendors.

Primary Job Functions: 

  • Lead a team of 3-5 Buyers and manage daily purchasing activities, supervising staff and allocating tasks.
  • Manage procurement records, including contracts, a supplier database, entering purchase orders into ERP system, and invoices. The scope includes 3 business unit, ClimaCell, GreenCell Foam and WaveKraft, and multiple manufacturing locations.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries, monitor, and forecast upcoming levels of demand.
  • Develop, lead, and execute purchasing processes and systems.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, inventory control, and finance, to ensure that procurement activities support the company's strategic goals and objectives. Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Assess, manage, and mitigate risks.
  • Proactively identify areas within the organization where savings could be found.

Secondary Job Functions: 

  • Craft negotiation strategies and close with optimal terms.
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power.
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
  • Seek and partner with reliable suppliers at a local and enterprise level and monitor performance, including quality, delivery, and contractual obligations.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Experience leading/managing a team of Buyers using procurement best practices, including laws, regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Strong computer skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Office/Excel, purchasing software and other data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience using procurement software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or SAP/Oracle.
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Lift up to 15 pounds unassisted 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
