FLSA:                                      Full Time Non-Exempt Hourly

 

 

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment by implementing and maintaining safety policies, procedures, and programs. This role will support AIS’s commitment to workplace safety by conducting audits, training employees, and fostering a culture of safety awareness. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach to risk management and a strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and enforcing workplace safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Lead and coordinate safety training programs for employees, ensuring compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Assist in emergency response planning, including fire drills, evacuation plans, and first aid preparedness.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding safety concerns and promote a culture of continuous safety improvement.
  • Stay up to date on industry regulations and best practices to enhance AIS’s safety programs.
  • Support workers' compensation case management and return-to-work programs in collaboration with HR.

Qualifications

  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish)
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other workplace safety standards.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively train and guide employees.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement safety improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • CPR, First Aid, or other safety-related certifications are a plus.
  • This role requires time spent on the production floor, conducting safety audits, and interacting with employees.
  • May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting safety equipment or materials.
