SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the Controller, plans and completes activities to meet the reporting deadlines set by regulation or management. Performs daily and monthly accounting duties in a timely fashion to meet deadlines. Researches variances and works with multiple departments to insure financials are reported timely and accurately. Completes month end reconciliations for all assigned general ledger accounts in preparation for financial statement reviews. Maintains confidentially of all privileged information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Draw together data from various systems to create and distribute reports used by executive level management in business decision making.

• Coordinate, schedule and assist Management in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts from actual and estimated figures based on business trends.

• Reviews slot and table game statistics; investigating and documenting any variances outside threshold set by management and regulations.

• Monitors revenue and expenses; ensures expenditure control and compliance with funding and reporting requirements, and standard accounting procedures.


• Review and post daily and month end journal entries into the accounting software.

• Assists with preparation of all documents requested by outside auditors.

• Works closely with the Controller and accounting staff on a daily basis by ongoing communication and consultation.

• Performs monthly accounting duties in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, approved policies and procedures, NIGC MICS, Commission TICS, and accounting department reporting standards.

• Assists in month end inventory counts within all departments of casino operations.

• May be required to work holidays, weekends, and evenings to meet deadlines.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business or finance required or 5 years progressive financial experience within a gaming institution. Gaming experience preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Access, Excel, and Word. Must possess excellent communication skills and effective public speaking skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents such as technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from Guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to speak effectively before groups and present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
