Comprehensive Life Resources is looking for a qualified Certified Peer Counselor to join our Outreach team in downtown Tacoma Washington.

Function: Provide outreach services to clients as a member of the outreach team. Assist clients in reducing barriers and achieving goals to improve their behavioral health and overall well-being, and to reduce the need for repeated and extended inpatient treatment. Serves as a member of an organization that welcomes, engages, and serves individuals with complex wellness needs.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Promote recovery and a recovery philosophy in direct service of clients in the community, through:
    • Role modeling and sharing relevant life experiences
    • Providing peer interventions to clients regarding, but not limited to, symptoms of mental illness, coping skills, medications/side effects, relapse prevention, including:
  • Engaging clients through outreach and support
  • Assisting clients to identify their recovery and wellness goals and strengths for achieving their goals
  • Providing hope and encouragement while supporting clients in taking personal responsibility for their recovery and wellness
  • Assisting clients to connect to community resources and build natural supports
  • Educating clients about Advance Directives
  • Document services provided and maintain clinical records in accordance with policies and procedures accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that ethical and professional standards of practice are maintained.
  • Participate in meetings and activities as required.
  • Maintain effective coping and self-care strategies.
  • Demonstrate on-going commitment to developing professional skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and client information.
  • In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Complete specialized training provided or contracted by the HCA (Health Care Authority) and successfully pass an examination administered by the HCA or authorized contractor. Be certified to provide Peer Support services in Washington.
  • Maintain registration as a counselor under chapter RCW 18.19.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with persons with chronic behavioral health challenges in the community.
  • Computer skills.
  • Willingness to meet other employment-related requirements as specified by CLR, including position competencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license; proof of insurance
