SUMMARY

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Facilities & Maintenance, the Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and ensuring the overall functionality of our facilities. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important for Maintenance Worker to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning, and tidying the premises.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs general cleaning and janitorial duties in the common areas of the building.
  • Ability to strip and wax floors and clean carpets
  • Ensures heating and cooling systems are operational.
  • Performs minor repairs and maintenance such as replacing light fixtures or unclogging pipes
  • Assists in examining the school for safety hazards, reports deficiencies to the Director of Facilities.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Detail-oriented and thorough.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Set up and break down furniture for events.
  • Time Flexibility – Availability to work on weekends and nights when needed.
  • Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS

  • Must be able to use a computer to check emails and will be trained on the energy management computer.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Must be proficient in English to carry out work as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • None

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands include bending, lifting, and moving furniture on a regular basis. The ability to be on your feet for an extended period. Physical ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds or more, climb ladders, and work both in confined spaces and outside.
