JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Human Resources Generalist works under the Director of Human Resources. This position is responsible for providing administrative support to the Human Resources Department. The HR Generalist will be primarily responsible for maintaining employee personnel files, assisting with the hiring process, entering employee information into the Human Resources Management System (HRMS), and report writing. This position may also be asked to provide support to employees regarding Human Resources-related inquiries. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

  • Prepare paperwork and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional first day experience.
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters.
  • Be the primary backup for payroll processing, including biweekly and semimonthly updates to employee files, bonus/incentive pay, vacation/sick pay, expense reimbursements, hourly-employee validations, and benefits changes.
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development.
  • Assists with background checks by submitting the online background check request and providing new employees with the proper documentation for DCFS background checks.
  • Assists employees by providing answers to questions pertaining to HR processes and procedures.
  • Participates in agency events as assigned.
  • Assists in updating HRMS system to reflect current employee departments, positions, pay rates and other relevant information.
  • Creates various reports at the request of Human Resources Manager and/or Leadership Team
  • Assists in posting open positions to various job board (i.e., Indeed, NPA, Paycom, Gads Hill Center Career page, and others)

 

In addition to the responsibilities listed above, all Gads Hill Center employees are responsible for the following:

  • Participates in agency outreach and recruitment events, including evenings and weekends.
  • Participates in supervision meetings and workshops within the agency and outside (if applicable).
  • Participates in civic engagement activities that advance the mission of Gads Hill Center.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • High School graduate required.
  • 2 years of Human Resources Experience
  • Experience with multi-cultural programming preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organization skills.
  • Ability to pass a criminal record and child abuse/neglect registry check.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary
  • A passion for the mission of Gads Hill Center.
