Description

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with general interior and exterior building maintenance/repairs at VCU locations, including all branches.
  • Provide service vendors with access to the Administration building and communicate repair results to the Director of Security and Facilities and the Facility Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Assist with special facility management projects, including but not limited to new VCU branches, Branch/Department moves, relocations and setup/breakdown of modular furniture.
  • Assist the Facility Maintenance Coordinator in completing maintenance requests and paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Assist the Facility Maintenance Coordinator in obtaining repair bids for the Director of Security and Facilities and assist in overseeing the implementation of repairs to all VCU locations.
  • Assist with the completion of monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual inspections of all VCU buildings and report any findings to the Director of Security and Facilities and the Facility Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Assist the Facility Maintenance Coordinator in maintaining all records of performed inspections and their results.
  • Assist the Facility Maintenance Coordinator in coordinating repairs/maintenance at all locations.
  • Perform special tasks or projects as assigned by the Director of Security and Facilities or the Facility Maintenance Coordinator.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS      

KNOWLEDGE

  • The individual should have at least two years of job-related experience with a basic knowledge of HVAC and boiler systems, electrical wiring and plumbing or equivalent education.
  • The individual should have an above average understanding and ability to complete repairs to interior and exterior building surfaces.
  • The individual should have knowledge of how to perform basic carpentry repairs and the ability to use general carpentry/maintenance tools and equipment.
  • The individual should have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and be familiar with the St. Louis and St. Charles area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS  

The position requires the following physical activities within varying environmental conditions:

  • Occasionally remaining in a stationary position which may be standing or sitting for a prolonged period of time.
  • Occasional travel or moving from one office location to another or from one department to another at the headquarters building.
  • Occasional lifting, moving, or adjusting objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Constant communication with others through various channels including verbal, email, and chat of which the last two may require consistent use of a keyboard and mouse or another electronic device.
  • Work will be in a commercially reasonable temperature-controlled environment.
  • Occasional temporary exterior site review which could be in outdoor elements of wind, rain, or snow.
