Description

Responsible for all activities related to the day to day recovery suite compliance including accurate inventory system management, sterilization program compliance, cleaning requirements, accurate documentation, deliveries, etc.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

RECOVERY SUITE OPERATIONS

  1. Knowledge of federal, state and industry laws/regulations related to tissue practices including those of all tissue processors, AATB, OSHA, EBAA and FDA.
  2. Performs daily instrument sterilization requirements for cleaning and documentation to ensure compliance with established SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  3. Establishes and maintains an effective inventory management process, ensuring appropriate par levels based on activity.  
  4. Manages the MTN Inventory system database (BTM) in compliance with FDA requirements, MTN SOPs and departmental needs, which includes accurately logging inventory, assisting Materials Management Specialist with purchase orders for supply orders, assisting the Quality Department with system audits, and returning unused supplies to the inventory database. 
  5. Manages supply ordering for all tissue services and organ services as requested. 
  1. Performs and accurately documents daily cleaning activities utilizing proper sterilization protocols.
  2. Works with Tissue and Organ Department Leaders, Materials Management Specialist and Biomedical Engineer to manage Recovery Suite maintenance issues and follow-up.
  3. In conjunction with the Quality Department and the Director, Tissue Services, ensure appropriate and preventative maintenance on centrifuge and refrigerators.  Monitor electronic temperature systems to ensure accuracy.  
  4. At AOC direction, assists with tissue recovery based on donor volumes and clinical operation needs.
  5. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with internal MTN staff, hospital staff, processing partners, funeral homes and others involved in the donation process.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  1. Associates Degree in biological sciences or allied health preferred.  Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  2. Two years experience as a Tissue Procurement Coordinator or four years of equivalent OPO/industry experience required. 
  3. Strong working knowledge of cGTP and sterilization regulations required.
  4. Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week.  
  5. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
  6. Excellent organization and time management skills; ability to function independently and collaboratively; demonstrated problem-solving and creative thinking skills and well-developed personal stress management skills.
  7. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
  8. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and surgical equipment.
  9. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information to MTN staff, transporter and funeral home staff, hospital staff, procurement personnel and supply vendors in person or by phone.
  10. OSHA Category I – Exposed regularly to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.  Bloodborne pathogens protection is required.
  11. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
