JOB SUMMARY

The Training Manager will be responsible for providing leadership for volunteer training content and delivery in the organization. S/he will lead the planning for and delivery of council-wide training programs with an emphasis on customer service to volunteers and will work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver high-quality training experience.  S/he is responsible for providing leadership in the development of innovative strategies and effective service for supporting adult membership through training and development so that the Girl Scout Leadership Experience is delivered effectively. The Training Manager will work with other operational and organizational functions to support the mission, goals, and strategic priorities of the council.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  

  • Develop, update and increase the utilization of training resources that enhance the impact of adult volunteers leading Girl Scout troops.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of in-person and online training for individuals and group
  • Ensure the training experience is easy to access, inclusive, and productive for all volunteers throughout the council
  • Accountable for creating and cultivating an active and engaged corps of training volunteers
  • Develops resources for new and transitioning troop leaders, including (but not limited to) material for print and/or online delivery, webinars, and in-person presentation.
  • Works with Service Unit and cross-functional teams to determine or develop innovative strategies to ensure the effective support of new troop leaders and VTK adoption.
  • Facilitates training courses as needed
  • Identify gaps in training and adult support through various feedback mechanisms (volunteer satisfaction surveys, new leader surveys, course evaluations, utilization reports, etc.) and create action plans to continuously improve the training of volunteers.
  • Ensures the effective flow of communication between trainers, volunteers, and council staff; oversees the effective brokerage and access to additional support services and resources
  • Maintains training compliance with council and GSUSA policies as well as federal and state regulations while ensuring that the organizational goals are met
  • Keeps current on all council program information and supports training and messaging that is offered to volunteers
  • Applies Instructional Design and Adult Learning principles utilizing ADDIE and Performance-Based Training methods for all training projects
  • Provides data analysis through interpretation of various council system reports
  • Manages the team of staff training specialists dedicated to delivering learning and development support for adult volunteers
  • Assists with council wide events and takes lead on assigned aspects of such events.
  • Acts as the council subject matter expert for all items related to and impacting new and transitioning troop volunteers.
  • Promotes and supports the direction of council and national initiatives, working to create buy-in and adoption among volunteers.
  • Demonstrates and promotes a climate of courtesy and professionalism.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Establish goals, monitor progress and provide coaching to enable teams to meet their goals.
  • Demonstrates through action, the qualities of the Girl Scout Law.
  • Within the first six months of hiring date earns certifications:
    • Red Cross First Aid Adult and Child CPR Instructor

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in learning field
  • Excellent written grammar/communications
  • 2-3 years’ experience with Learning/Content Management System Platforms (Moodle, Blackboard, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff and volunteers
  • Strong ability to self-manage by working independently. Strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of adult learning process and experience in educating adults
  • Experience presenting and facilitating to groups of 30 or more
  • Subscribe to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement
  • Must successfully complete a criminal, national sex offender search, and motor vehicle background check
  • Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license and reliable transportation.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • 2-5 years’ experience in directly managing multiple people
  • Volunteer Experience in Girl Scouting
  • Ensures team members are fully trained in the skills necessary for them to succeed
  • Flexibility and openness to changing work priorities and conditions; simultaneously managing multiple tasks/projects
  • Promotes an internal culture of teamwork and accountability to one another
  • Takes the initiative to identify and act on problems and lead by example
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Bilingual skills an asset
  • Thorough knowledge of computer environments, including Microsoft Office applications with heavy emphasis on Access, Excel and WEB based programs.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Willingness or ability to work flexible hours, including some nights and weekends
  • Willingness to drive 60 miles or more, round trip, from home on a regular basis

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Requires the physical mobility to sit or walk for moderate periods of time and to occasionally carry or lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds.
