SUMMARY  

Create technical solution-based proposals that meet the Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements for CNC Turning machines. Ability to analyze & gather customer requirements, collaborate with the customer, work holding and tooling suppliers, Sales, Proposal Engineering team and other departmental staff as needed while meeting firm deadlines.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.   

-Create engineered machine quote packages that meet the RFP requirements within the defined time constraints. 

-Develop solution-based proposal plan with the support of the higher-level Proposal Engineering (PE) team members and execute it, present it to the PE team for review and upon completion to the Sales Team. 

-Read and review technical machine tool drawings to create proposals.

-Creative and critical thinking to design best engineered solutions

-Understanding of manufacturing part prints and GD&T as well as operational process flows and cycle time studies.

- Knowledge of raw material grades and characteristics.

-Develop the foresight to plan a Machine cell around safety, material, labor, and time constraints.

-Experience with Automated CNC Turning machine cell proposals including some experience with robot and/or gantry combined is a plus

-Knowledge of part transfer within machine cell by use of mechanical Numeric Control Robot and/or gantry is a plus

-Experience machining for various industries including Automotive, Medical, Aerospace, DoD or other complex systems for both the US and international customers is a plus

-Experience collecting information from subject matter experts and using it to create technical content, that is clear, presented in an easy-to-understand language. 

-Ability to extract data from solid models is expected.

-Create the Murata Machine documentation package once the RFP is complete.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE  

Associate's degree or two year technical degree related to CNC Turning; minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Manufacturing Engineering position or a CNC Programmer/Set Up role for a manufacturing or production type organization; one (1) year of experience in the preparation of technical proposals, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. 

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS  

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. 

 

REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

- Ability to do quality work in a deadline environment and remain positive and approachable. 

- Proficiency in the use and application of design software. SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience preferred.  

- CAD/CAM experience preferred (ESPRIT, Mastercam, or similar). 

- SolidWorks/ Modeling experience expected.  

- Excellent project coordination, time management and multi-tasking skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and Adobe tools.

-Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment. 

- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with others 

- Creative and solution-based thinker. 

- Self-motivation is required. 

- Adept at navigating information-rich environments, finding the needed information, and applying it correctly.  

 

TRAVEL 

This position requires up to 20% travel including domestic and international. A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.
