SUMMARY

Install and service Murata Machine Tools products. Assist sales personnel and train customer personnel. Cross-train on both Metal Forming and Metal Cutting products as assigned for best overall Customer Service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Install Murata Machine Tools products:

a. Install and demonstrate new machines in customer plants, including electrical or mechanical check-outs, set up, tooling, operation and programming.

b. Prepare and submit demonstration reports accurately and promptly.

2. Service Murata Machine Tools products:

a. Perform basic electrical/electronic, or mechanical, or hydraulic problem diagnosis and repair in customer's plants during warranty period.

b. Cross-train on mechanical, electrical & electronic maintenance.

c. Advise and assist customers with most operations and programming problems during warranty period.

d. Perform most maintenance work and provide basic assistance needed by customer following warranty period.

e. Advise and assist in selection and ordering of tools and repair parts.

f. Prepare and submit service time and expense reports accurately and promptly.

3. Upgrade personal capability and train customer personnel:

a. Assist other Field Service Engineers with various assignments to receive necessary on-the-job training.

b. Receive additional training on Murata Machine Tools products by

l. Attending schools, seminars, and conferences

2. Taking recommended training courses

c. Train customer personnel in processing, tooling, operating, and servicing of Murata Machine Tools products.

4. Assist Sales Personnel:

a. Recommend machine tools and accessory equipment to potential buyers

b. Report sales opportunities

c. Assist and advise in matters involving machine application, tooling, and estimating

d. Maintain favorable customer relationships

Qualifications

- Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and laser systems

- Knowledge of CNC equipment (FANUC a plus)

- Machine tool experience

- Several years of technical or military training in electronics

- Professional approach to solving problems

- Desire to understand customer needs

- Ability to travel up to 85% within the USA regularly

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree in related field or other engineering discipline preferred. Technical School or Military Certification is acceptable. Minimum of 1-4 years of machine tools maintenance or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

TRAVEL

This position requires up to 85% travel including domestic and international. A valid drivers license and good driving record are required.
