Job Summary
The Operating Room Nurse Manager is a registered nurse who provides leadership and coordination in the operating room (OR) environment. They are responsible for ensuring that the OR runs smoothly and efficiently, while maintaining patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities

- In collaboration with the Leadership team and Chief of Anesthesia, plan and manage the daily operations of the operating room, including scheduling surgeries, staffing, and ensuring that equipment and supplies are available.
- Oversee and monitor the outcomes of coordinated and comprehensive patient care delivery within the operative department.
- Collaborating with surgeon leaders and anesthesia, drive efficiency targets related to on-time starts, turnaround time and OR utilization.
- Responsible for leading and managing the OR staff with input from the Leadership team, including nurses, surgical technologists, and sterile processing technicians. This includes making decisions related to hiring, training, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
- In collaboration with clinical education, ensure that staff members are trained and qualified to perform their duties, and that they are following established policies and procedures.
- Champion ongoing education and training to the operating room team to ensure that everyone is up to date on the latest techniques, equipment, and best practices.
- Conduct routine staff meetings and huddles to engage staff and consistently share information.
- In collaboration with the Leadership team, responsible for managing the equipment and supplies in the OR, including ensuring that they are in good working order.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the OR to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (inclusive of CMS and AAAHC), patient safety standards, and evidenced based clinical practices.
- Ensure that the OR meets all regulatory requirements for safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
