SUMMARY 

The Technician for the Residential Programs plays a vital role in providing comprehensive technician and case management services to individuals aged eighteen (18) or older with serious, persistent psychiatric disorders, symptomatic co-occurring psychiatric disorders and substance use disorders, and social service needs who are under our care. This position involves managing program floor duties, monitoring meals, smoke breaks, and client intakes, arranging transportation and psycho-educational groups, and facilitating client calls.    
By RNP's Mission Statement, Philosophy of Client Care, and Code of Ethics as stated in the Personnel Policies and under the supervision of the Program Director and Coordinator, manage client care for individuals requiring multiple assistance sources by performing the following duties. 
 

 

HOURS Sunday - Thursday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm or Tuesday - Saturday 4:00 pm - 12:00 am

 

CORE FUNCTIONS 
 
•    Provide program and staff assistance assuring that the program’s daily processes, policies, and procedures are adhered to. Assisting clients with keeping on task with their daily programming schedules; being present for medication lines, and groups, and meeting with clinicians and discharge coordinators.     

•    Assists with direct client care which includes routine safety checks, headcounts, passing meals, conducting smoke breaks, passing out hygiene items, and linens.  

•    Assisting with client intakes by following the admission guidelines, assisting clients with admissions into the building by searching clients’ belongings, separating prohibited items labeling clients’ names on their belongings, assuring clients’ medications are given to the nurses, providing the clients with showering items, towels, bedding, and scrubs.  

•    Assisting clients with intakes by obtaining standard necessary releases of information, and releases of information requested by the clients. Assisting clients with understanding their welcome packets and orientation to the program.  

•    Assists clients with personal phone calls, laundry scheduling, providing hygiene items per request, and assisting staff with store runs to obtain client items approved by the director.  

•    When needed assist clients with the facilitation of potential aftercare screenings via telephone, emails, and TEAMS.  

•    Assists with maintaining the Risk and Safety procedures binder for the building, notes, and reports to the supervisor repairs that may be needed.   
•    Has the skills and ability to redirect any person respectfully and appropriately and offers supportive counseling; utilizes crisis intervention techniques and contingency plans whenever necessary based on the person’s needs and staff assessment.   

•    Complete documentation: collateral contact notes, and group notes, and upload pertinent documentation and releases of information onto EHR, fax preapproved listed documentation to potential aftercare providers.  

•    Must attend weekly clinical staff meetings working with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, psychiatrist PAs, and case managers.    

•    Facilitates psycho-educational groups.  

Qualifications

 CORE COMPETENCIES 
 
•    Associate’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field. 

•    Minimum of 2 years of experience in residential technician and case management duties or related social services field, preferably working with individuals with co-occurring disorders. 

•    Excellent Conflict Resolution skills 

•    Advanced De-escalation and Crisis Intervention skills 

•    Experience working with individuals with serious and persistent psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders, and involvement in the criminal justice system. 

•    Effective communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 

•    Ability to work effectively with diverse populations of clients and staff.  

•    Ability to communicate and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team. 

•    Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality and HIPAA.  

•    Project a professional image. 

•    Intermediate/advanced computer skills. 
 

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES 
 
•    Must possess a valid CT Drivers’ License and reliable transportation.
